Default Acewell Clock owners lend me your ear.....

I called Electrosport Gauges today, they are the US importers of Acewell clocks and they told me that there isn't a speedo cable for the SV650 and one wouldn't be available for a few months!! Odd eh? So I called back and asked if the univeral pick up mount with magnets on the front wheel would work and he said that on the SV it caused a problem. Yeah okay right, so he is trying to ask someone else and then call me back.

So my question is to you that have Acewell Clocks (26xx, 29xx, 37xx, and 39xx): what cable are you using to run the speedo and is it accurate?? These things are made to fit on ATVs, scooters and bikes so I can't imagine why the SV and it's front wheel would cause any problems with accurate speed measuring. Even the specs of the 3700/3900 say it has adjustable wheel circumference setting from 1-3999mm.

HELP!!!!!!

That really does sound like gibberish. Is the SV made out of special magnet-cancelling metal?

Call Banditmania, I'm sure they said they'd mounted one up without problems. Is it possible Acewell are trying to make something that'll run off the original drive?

Yes, i think so. There is a magnet/reed switch sensor supplied as standard as per your cycle computers.

They also mention a Hall-effect sensor available for some models. I asked bandit mania about them and they said it wasn't supplied.

Whatever that means, I'm none the wiser!

What I got from them was the pick area was going to be too small or for the unit to work correctly. I'm thinking that the rear rotor or sprocket with the trailing arm would be ideal for the sensor. I saw someone with a Veypor mount theirs in that location so I'm stumped as to why the SVs forks or trailing arms would be different then an ATV or chopper or any other bike.

Yeah I think I'll call Banditmania or Acewell tomorrow and see what they have to say. The Electrosport guy said they'd had alot of calls about the SV and should have a working prototype unit maybe in 30 days and if it works correctly maybe sellable product in 60 to 90 days.

Thanks for you help in the mean time.

You have been told the right thing, At this time we do not have a front
speedo cable that works on your bike.

Acewell is working on a new cable for this type of pick up, But it will
take some time, We are going to be testing picking up speed from the
rear wheel, There are a few bikes that do it this way.

It will take about 30 days before we will know for sure.

I GOT ONE ON MY SV!!!!!!!

it IS a reed switch and magnet!
easy to set up.
i glued the magnet into the break disk bolt and zip tied the reed switch to the leg.
job done then follow instructions to calibrate!
i then tested it wid friends on the road up to 80mph and addjusted accordingly!

Mine arrived today. 3100 model.

Piece of p*ss to fit. Five wires, and you only need to look up a switched positive, the rest are easy.
Looks quite smart. Some nice functions, even tho it's the bog standard basic one without idiot lights.
Setable rpm shift warning. Bargraph rpm and numeric readout. 2 tripmeters. All stainless fittings. Looks fairly weatherproof and sturdy.

A few gripes and niggles tho.....
1) Lead from unit to connector block is too short to fit under the tank. Will need to buy some shrinkwrap.
2) A few nuts missing for the wheel sensor and connectors for the wires would have been nice. No big deal i suppose.
3) The speedo is being a bugger, not reading a thing so far. Hmmmm.
4) Wires were all a bit short really, except rpm wire which was 2M long?!?!?!?
