For pulling wheelies as im 13-14 stone ish and can never pull a wheelie despite oodles of revs and fast clutch action? getting on my nerves now that i cant do it! Maybe its a K5 problem who knows.....yeah i like that angle im blaming the bike, its not my crap skills at all.....
If you can pull a wheelie on a k5 are you the same weight or over? |

I don’t think your weight is a problem, if anything if position correctly will aid wheelieing. It would be irresponsible of me to encourage you to practice but .. well … sitting back and giving the bars a little tug as the front goes light should be all you need to initiate a wheelie on the SV … you don’t need to be ‘clutching’ it either. It is then just down to controlling it.
I should point out that it is far too easy for things to go horribly wrong, covering the back brake is a good idea, but simply closing the throttle should bring the front back down. If you really want to learn how to do wheelies I suggest you enlist in a ‘wheelie school’ where it is done in a controlled environment. p.s. you are probably using too many revs, just pull away and roll the power on in first, as I said when the power/torque kicks in and the front is going light, give the bars a little tug to encourage things and you are away! ![]() |

Ive skipped my k3 wheel off the ground afew times but nothing to shout home about! I'm 11 stone and have problems lifting the front. i dont really want to shut the throttle then bang it open again its abit too violent for me but i would be pleased if the sv lifted the front off the throttle

I weigh about 13 13.5 and i have a k4 and the sv will lift off the throttle if rolled on right and your positioned right. That little engine has plenty of grunt. I do slip the cluth at times and it comes up to. I am no wheelie genie and i cant keep it up at moment but i am trying to learn Safely

It's all too easy to loft the 'tona. A gentle upwards tug on the bars whilst giving it modest clout in 1st is all it takes. Not that I do it deliberately - honest

The main secret as far as I am aware, and I am no expert at all, is that in your normal everyday riding you automatically avoid wheelies by application of safe riding. Being very tall I normally ride quite far forward on the seat because the balance and manoeverability of the SV is better like that for me. But on longer journeys where I sit a bit further back or even sometimes on the pillion seat [I said I was tall] I find that it is much easier to bring the front wheel up with just power, and no tugging of the bars. I never do it on purpose however as I am getting a little long in the crank for all that kind of foolish . . . . . . I have decided to sensor the rest of this post because it is a little too revealing especially the bit about the abuse of the lollypop lady. Who was at every angle a fine woman and never that far from my Right I have to be sober in two hours because I have to see some patients.. Go to a wheeley school. ![]() |

actually, fat people can usually wheelie an SV easier , I went to a 16t sprocket up front to keep the front wheel on the ground
I weigh 21stone |
