Default Water Pump casing, paint flaky-flaky!

Hello,

Just looking at this engine for sale on ebay and noticed the water pump casing paint is starting to flake off.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-Sv-650-...QQcmdZViewItem

On my 51 plate curvy I have the same problem, and it bugs me!

Does anyone else have a problem like this on their curvys or indeed pointys!!

If so, can anyone recommend a good paint/spray to use.

This photo is actually from my bike. Not incredibly clear as fairing lowers cover it, but you get the idea

Yup, they'll do that. You could spray it, but it'd be a pig of a masking job with the bolts- I've got a couple of spares, going to get them powdercoated I think, but it's not a simple job to fit or remove them either, it's a sidecover-off job.

Do you literally have to take whole side casing off?
Does it not come of with the bolts that hold it on?

Nope, you need to get to the other side for the actual water pump gubbins. Or at least, think you do.

So are you saying, that if I want to remove the pump casing, I'll need to remove whole side casing? (Still confused!)
Are there bolts internally that can only be undone by taking whole side off?
(Will study Haynes Manual when I get home later)

I think he's saying that there is a gear (pictured) attached to the inside of the water pump housing that you need to remove before you can remove the housing.
To get to this gear you must remove the side casing.
