Sorry for bein a total newb, but a friend of mine is sellin a 2001 sv650s with 10,000 miles for $3000... It's got brand new tires, a lower fairing, a gel seat, and a couple other small things... Is this a good price for an '01 with that amount of miles? What other things should I look at before buying?
Thanks for the help guys... |

Right 3000 american dollars so thats about 1,700 pounds.
Seems like a good deal to me, Its got low mileage for the age, new tyres are always good, any idea what make? Stuff like the lower fairing and gel seat as also good additions to make to the bike and dont detract from it. If he has an aftermarket exhaust its also worth getting the original if he has it too. Stuff to check for, not so good in this part but id say the usual stuff, check the chain and sprockets, see if they are worn, how much life left in them. check the head bearings by yanking the steering from left to right. If its your mates then you should have an idea hopefully of its history, if its been garaged for a while or even if its been raced. Make sure it starts up and all that, take it for a spin and listen for any noises at standstill and on the move. Then just check the bike over with a fine tooth comb, any damage on it like the bar ends and if so ask him whats happened. Anyway im sure someone will come along with a list of things to check that are better than mine but on the whole it seems a good buy. Oh and what colour is it? ![]() |

funny that its a good deal in both places, so many things cost different (that shouldnt) between US and UK.
I myself answered this very question yesterday on the USA EX250 site, might not have been mr. brizzle asking there but if it was then he is certainly doing his homework. Of course he should buy the bike, identifiable problems aside. Lower fairing is a bonus. |
