Default No claims discount question

OK, I had my company car broken into whilst in Shepperton a few weeks ago. I put everything through the fleet management people at work. and had to pay the VAT on the repair which I recover through my expenses.

I have just had a call from the repairers and it looks like I have to pay them the excess of £150. So this now looks as if the companies insurers have picked up the bill. Will this claim although it is a company vehicle and damge from theft attempt be recorded against me and therefore likely to impact my NCB for personal car & bike.

NCB is only affected on cars you have driven under your own insurance.

You will have to tell your insurance though that you had a claim. Some ask if you have lost your NCB, for company insurance that can be iffy as you do not normaly know that if its a fleet insurance plus they do it in a diffrent way. I always say yes which seems to give a lower quote than if i said i did not loose my NCB even though its not my insurance.

I don't agree with that, it's company insurance. It's not his car, not his policy and other people at the place could drive it presumably. Which means whoever last had the keys would be responsible for any break ins? Doesn't make sense...
This is why at the company, when i borrowed a co car for 1 day for a company trip it got broken into at my house, i made sure my name was not on the paperwork so there was never any comeback. But if it is then it can be a issue. Its a fine line i think.

At the office several of us use the same car and park it in the same place all the time, i dont want to be responsible for a brake in as i was the last to drive it when it could happen to any of us because we park in the same place every time.

I got run into in fizz's car, his insurers recovered all the money from the other driver, yet this none fault accident has put my bike insurance up when i renew it.

Not sure if your legally responsible for informing the insurance company of any other accidents in other cars and policys.

Check what they say when getting insurance. Its very vague. It usaly just says somthing like any claims/crashes/incidences etc... and not specific to your insurance.

IIRC, tims car is his, and not a Pool car. So he is responsible for the car.

You will sill inform your insurance at time of renewal, and let them make the decision.

Out of interest I ran an online quote for e-bike. there is an £18 increase on my policy for the SV for a declared theft claim.

£110 comprehensive no declared claims and £128 with the declared theft.

Now to my way of thinking I should claim the extra on my expenses from my employers. If I had not been there on their instructions the car would not have been damaged resulting in me having additional policy loadings for the next couple of years. So I view them as responsible for my additional costs. Can't see them accepting it though

You do not have to tell the insurance company about that claim.
Firstly you are not named on the companys insurance if it is a pool car.
Secondly you shouldn't be too honest for your own good where things like that are concerned, It will cost you.

Thirdly if you want your insurance to go down tell them you are a doctor. OOPS!!
sorry I shouldn't have said that last bit.

It is not a pool car, it was my company car, as in I have its value declared on my annual P11D and therefore pay 40% of that value to the scheming scotsman at no 11.

When I reported the theft attempt to the accident management company they insisted on knowing my home address and would not accept my employers address.
