Default How can I kill my neighbours tree...

{SQ}
The old gentleman behind me refuses to trim his tree for the 3rd year in a row.. So it must die for his sins...
How can I kill the light blocking monstrosity without getting nicked?

You can't and he's under no obligation to trim it. But you can trim what hangs on your side and leave the waste in his garden for his disposal. As it still his property, make sure tell him first though.

And don't be so nasty, he's a old man...

He's a coffin dodging oxygen thief, if you meet him you'd understand. It's the height of the tree and the roots that are ripping up my flagstones and shed.

firstly consider
Is there any chance of it doing any damage to your property should it fall?

You have the right to trim any overhang onto your property. But you must give them back the branches you cut off.

My neighbours have a couple of trees that drop rotten fruit over onto my lawn. I wait till well mouldy pierce them with a cane to irate the wasps in them and launch them back over their fence.

I have also cut through the roots where they try to suck the water out of my lawn.

However, I do have a neighbour next but one who has the most enormous Leylandii. They cut out most of the light from our mutual neighbour. Good on him and long may he not get them lopped.

This one is a coffin dodger too. Her late husband had a terrible life with her and deliberately got Altzimers so that he would not have to put up with her moaning. she called the police to complain that our BBQ smelled and smoke was ruining her washing etc. She would throw her garden waste over the fence into our garden and had the cheek to say that we has stolen 3 ft of her garden. She got in 2 different firms of surveyors to check her boundaries, the second being required as she did not like what the first told her.

Thats not nice... you don't know what life he's had... even if he is a old git, he might not have much else in life then whining about you. Leave him with his little pleasure and rise above it.

And I bet the tree was there before you where, and before you moved in so stop whining. To many trees are chopped down as it is.

Is it protected by a TPO?? If yes, prune it at your peril.
