copied and pasted from boxhill forum, it's a message from andy's dad. it was posted about a week ago. sounds encouraging!

here is the link to the whole topic http://www.boxhill.co.uk/forum/phpBB...r=asc&start=50

Andy is at last doing well
He is a much better colour as is his "Meat and 2 veg" which he was concerned about size, quantity and colour is getting better

The hospital ordered the wrong wheelchair and as we then went into a bank holiday weekend, nothing can be done until today - hope they get their finger out

Andy is looking forward to getting into his chair and out of the bed

However, he has a long road to recovery and support from his biking friends is paramount to his well being. PLease don't let him become a forgotten statistic because you have all been fantastic. He is still in Cookson Divas Orthopaedic ward in the Conquest Hospital at Hastings

We did take in his laptop and an auxillary hard drive but after one day of no use, he sent it home again because he is still finding it hard to focus on anything for a longer term - he is still very sleepy

I will keep you all informed of Andys location and even when he is home, he will appreciate a visit - just call us on 01323 491058 - to let us know you are coming - his bedroom is now the dining room as he wont make the stairs

I have read a lot of the reports on the BCF site and comments about the ultimate risk etc. I am not here to judge and we still don't totally know what happened but ONE THING is clear that if Andy was not caning it along King Offa Way - in a 40 limit - he would still have a lovely bike, his health and would still be looking forward to University in September 06. For a moment of madness, ALL this has gone and having seen the pain and discomfort that Andy is now in, if you can at all avoid the black mist that seems to hit all drivers at one time or another, you might save this happening to you - enough of this - I didn't come on to write a sermon!!

During his operation, Andy used 10 pints of blood. As a result, if any of you feel that you can donate a pint or two, Andy wouldn't have survived without it

BREAKING NEWS:
Just had a call from hospital. Wheelchair could be several weeks away as it is very specialist and reclines him at 30 degrees. Cannot tell us when this will be available. Getting Andy out of bed in reclining chair today. New of his pelvis is that it was one of the more severe that they have seen

Please, if you can steer a ride in this direction, go and see him. It will definitely improve his spirits

Thanks for reading this and for all your support

I actually didn't realise it was that severe, the original thread just had a picture of him smiling in hospital. Hope he gets better soon!
