Default Bloody PayPal

I won an eBay auction for my new (well new to me anyway) V-reg full faired SV and opened an PayPal account to pay for it... (current owner doesn't want cash, long story)

The telephone based PIN verification process to de-restrict the account has failed and I'm waiting for them to post me the PIN. I've been waiting for a week and still nothing in the post. Its driving me NUTS!

I WANT MY BIKE!

So I contend myself with browsing the forum. I don't know if its making the wait easier or not

I would be very concerned about somebody who literally won't accept cash, even if you go to the bank with them and get it checked.

Umm, without knowing more, that does sound suspicious. I also got my bike on Ebay (and my car actually) and I paid a deposit via paypal and then went armed with a bankers draft. I would strongly recommend you see the bike before paying for it, I've heard many many bad stories!

Why doesn't he want cash anyway? (if you don't mind me asking)

The buyer used to work "at the bank" so they're suspicious of counterfiet notes... to be fair, they did say they'd accept a bankers draft, its just that it would take 5 days to clear anyway...

I plan to inspect the bike, then do the paypal transaction at the sellers computer. I pay nothing till I've given it a proper looking at.

I found this used bike buyer's guide a while back and it's pretty thorough. I've also researched some SV-specific quirks to be on he lookout for.

Thanks for the concern guys, if I smell a rat I'll walk away.

don't forget to change your password as soon as you get home, then. If he has a keylogger installed on his machine he could have your password and be away with all your money.

The fake cash excuse wouldn't wash with me, tell the seller you will pay cash and get the cash verfified in a bank, if they worked in a bank they should be able to spot fake cash anyway.

Whats their feedback rating on e-bay, are u 100% sure this is genuine.

Hi Tom,

Their feedback is solid... although only as a buyer. They haven't sold anything yet.

So there's an element of risk involved, but nothing ventured nothing gained!
