Default SV ground clearance

I'm new to SV owner ship picked up a new bike in March .
My question is compared with previous bikes I've ridden , the ground clearance on the sv is great , a fav left hand corner when taken at 60 mph would scrape the pegs on my fazer , in fact wore through them & onto the footrest itself , the same corner on a zxr750 could be taken @70 when the pegs would just start touching down , have taken the same corner @ 65 on the sv without anything touching down .
Don't want to push the OEM tyres that hard , however really impressed with the bikes standard clearance.

I've got 1 mm of unused tyre on the rear tyre , so I guess you have to be a long way over to grind the pegs out ?

Or is it something to do with the profile of the dunlop d220's

Cheers Steve

I think the fazer has a 180 section rear, while the SV has 160 and will lean fairly well.

The SV just has a load of clearance, basically. You can make v-twins narrow without trying, and there's 2 things that cause footpegs to deck out- lack of height, and excess width. The SVs are pretty narrow, and also reasonably high. Compare with, say, a Fazer, which I'd say has similiar peg height to a naked SV, but is far wider at that point, and you see how it happens.

When the hero blobs went down on mine I unscrewed them, trouble is then the brake pedal catches the ground. But on the brake pedal there is a kink in it, I cut mine and re welded it so its straight, now just the peg catches once and a while.

i noticed the same, i wrecked the pegs on my zzr and the cbr used to touch down regular but the sv is nowhere near, i think it maybe something to do with the d220's because i cant use all the tyre either? when a friend of mine had his rear tyre changed the profile was visually different and he said it changed the handling for the better. the new tyre is now scrubbed edge to edge.

Trying to wear the d220 as quck as I can done almost 3k miles since I got bike in March , however tyres only look about half way worn ..., hopefully within next 6 weeks will wear them out.
They are ok tyres for commuting , but for balls out riding they lack grip , had a couple of slides today when playing , however did keep up with my mates blackbird , however had to thrash the sv .

The fazer I had was the original model with a 160 rear , could scrape the exhaust on that bike ....

Cheers Steve
