Default Meteorites

I seem to remember through many years of haze a physics lesson when we were told that meteorites (very small and invisibe to the naked eyes) were constantly bombarding the Earth and, frankly, I thought it was just another of those scientific myths we're suppose to imbibe - you know, like the table my keyboard is resting on is full of little things called molecules bumping into each other (and they say religion is for the gullibe)...

Anyway, that was until this week. For reasons to do with age (conservatism and claustrophobia) I have never got along with full face helmets so my usual lid is an opon face effort with a visor under which I wear a balaclava (and very cool I look too ). Earlier this year I decided I needed to get a bit more trendy and bought a Momo Fighter lid and very fetching it looks (okay, not with me wearing it) in matt red. It has a half visor. Given the arrival of summer in these parts (for its usual three days) I decided to take the brave decison to skip the balaclava. It was then the force of that physics lesson came home to me... literally.

On my usual trip to work my face started being attacked by these meteorites, some of which seem to have teeth and all of which are invisible... so, for once, the fantasies of scinece seem proven. The alternative, which is far too awful to contemplate, is that I am being attacked by insects and, God forbid, swallowing some of them...

Fortunately, I have every confidnce that winter will shortly return and I can retreat under my balaclava but just think what you full face merchants are missing...

I saw this little dent in Arizona......they said it was caused by a meteor.

Well, you know how Yanks like to boast, so I tend to believe the the BILLY/Mystery Jimbo theory: it was the result of an out-of-control bee or wasp.

(just one the size of a txi and travelling at about 2 million mph................)

There are so many meteorites flying through our atmosphere, leaving little ionixed trails, that these trails can be used to bounce a signal off.
You can reliabley send a signal into the atmosphere and have it bounce back from the trails of meteors.

I think that's absolutely amazing.
