Default SV Seat cowl questions

I'm after a seat cowl, I like the looks and shape of the pyrimid one but I know it offers no expansion in terms of space for under the seat
So I'm looking for a seat unit that covers the space left by having no grab rail, looks like the pyrimid one and preferably unfastens by the SVs locking mechanism but i could make a bracket that will do the job

Any pics, addvice or brands would be great

The oe one (often found on e-bay via Suzuki agents) has (IMO) the best looks but has two advantages and two disadvantages:

Advantages
1. It will match the bike colour
2. It will replace the rear seat perfectly (ie, locks on etc)

Disadvantages
1. It isn't the snuggest of fits (ie, there is about a 5mm gap all round, between the cowl itself and the line of the rear mouldings (actually, that stops a lot of paint rubbing which may be an advantage!)
2. Because the hump itself is moulded onto a rear seat undermoulding, there is no additional carrying space

Summary It looks good - offers no extra space.

The OE one for the carbed SV does add a little space... It's contoured underneath while the pillion seatis flat. Not very much, though. It doesn't cover the grabrail holes, but you could get the Banditmania saddle shutters...

This one has got my creative juices flowing, shouldn't be to difficult to make out of fibre glass or even better carbon fibre but as its going to be painted, fibre glass would do

I've taken my seat cowl off (I think it's pyramid, the belly pan is anyway and it wasn't a perfect colour match either) so I can use a tail pack.

The cowl looked damn good (covered the gaps left by the missing grab rail) but was attached to a bracket which screwed into the holes for the missing grab rail - it was a right pain as I'd have to unscrew 2 screws to get into it... no big deal you think but eventually I lost the top screw that screwed into the bracket.

This screw was lost due to losing the spacer needed to keep the front screw in place which meant I lost the front screw. I ended up using black electrical tape as a temporary fix on the front and over the new top screw which wasn't quite the right size so kept vibrating loose when on the move...

If you can AT ALL get a cowl which uses the lock mechanism, I'd get one. I wouldn't recommend using a 'screw on bracket' type after faffing around with mine.

Sounds like your discribing the power bronze one cause the pyrimid one uses the latches from the pillion seat so you can use the lock mech

They do look simmiler though, but i think the pyrimid is solid

I purchased a standard oe one from MILLENIUM MOTORCYCLES of St Helens the other week, the colour is an exact match for my silver K3s AND becuase I had to wait 3-4 weeks for the darned thing to appear from Suzuki, the guys knocked it down to £37.80....cant be bad eh?
Ah, there is a wee bit of extra room underneath the cowl as well--enough for a couple of butties etc etc
