Default Speed Trap - Remote Cameras?

Anyone know if police have remote cameras that they can set up on VASCAR-marked sections of road? I was out for a spin this morning in the glorious weather on very empty roads (the joys of living in Scotland) and as I was passing through a VASCAR-marked bit, I spotted a rozzer parked up on a layby (not right by the road but away to one side on a piece of old road where the new road has been straightened). From his position (facing the other way from me) he would not have been able to get me on an on-board camera but I wonder whether they set a camera up on a tripod by the side of the road somewhere (didn't see one) which then transmits the pictures to the car. It was a pursuit car rather than a van and he didn't come after me.

However, given the speed I was going at the time (of the foolish joys of spring ) I'm going to worry now for the next two weeks about an NIP landing in my letterbox. I hope not!

Anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks.

on my way home from work there is always a blue fiesta parked on a grass verge with a camera on a small tripod in the back window, 100yards down the road they wait in a layby.
