Default Leaky Umbrella

Since there are a number of contractors on this forum.

Just wondering what umbrellas you use?

Having an issue with mine at the mo...time for a change...maybe.

Much talk about limited and accountants but seems a bit of a nightmare looking in.

makes sense to me. I assume you mean umbrella company as an IR35 get out etc.

What is your problem with limited. I was when I contracted years ago. Means you get to pay yourself a dividend instead of hi tax salary sort of advantage

I stole a bank umbrella from my old branch. Quite hard to sneak a golf umbrella out of a bank, really. It's a good umbrella, and has also worked efefctively as a tent peg. But I suspect this answer isn't going to be entirely helpful.

I use prosperity4 - the handle all of your IR35 stuff. Very good company and extremely helpful.

Yessir Using an Umbrella Company as an employer.

Thought I would allow a few jokers a quick laugh first though

Anyhoo...GYKD...what u paying these guys and how on time are they? A big issue for me this...spending too much time on the phone and trying to get me cash. Not dodgy ( I Hope ) just not perfect.

I may look into this Ltd lark but an accountant friend of the family said it was bother.

They're very on time, very efficient. You get issued your own personal business manager with a direct link through to them. Submit your timesheets weekly, your invoices for expenses monthly and they pay you by BACS month end.

There's a salary calculator on their website which shows you what your net pay (take home) would be if you used them.
