Default fittin a rear hugger?

Hi all,

Im tryin to fit ny new hugger and I've found i cant slide it far enough forward to attach it to the bracket ive put on the swingarm, there a piece of plastic stopping it thats betweeen the rear wheel and the suspension( im assuming its to protect the sus from any dirt n stuff bein kicked up from the back wheel). Once ive got the hugger on im assuming i wouldnt need the piece of plastic so can i remove it and if so how do i do it ?

Proper newbie question i know but thats what i am....

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

And if youre not sure what im on about ill try and post some pics.

Cheers

Phil

the naked and faired version of the new pointy Sv's need diffrent huggers as the holes that mount it on the non-chain side of the swingarm are diffrently spaced between models.

Maybe this is your problem?

that bit of plastic just protects the shock and undoes with just one single screw, no problem to remove, you should need to to mount the hugger.

Cheers Khewett,

I forgot to mention, its a 99 sv650s curvy, that info might have helped..

I thought as much with the piece of plastic, you say it has a screw to remove it, can you point me in the right direction cso i has a quick look and couldnt see any screws..
but might need a closer look.

Cheers for the response..

I have a pointy so mounting may be diffrent on mine there is a screw that holds it on from the top edge by the shock.

Take it off... There's a single bolt in the middle, it's a 10mm head with a phillips screw head built into it, so you have choices of how to do it.

cheers guys,

all sorted now, got it fitted and its pretty sweet. just one more thing, this might sound strange but all the black plastics on my sv are dull/matt, and the hugger is nice and shiny (which is cool) but looks a little out of place, has anyone heard of anybody thats sanded it lightly to give it a matt finish??

Answers on a postcard

Cheers

Nope, but it might just be a bit faded?

The dull plastic will shin up. Give it a spray with Mr Sheene or some pledge and they'll come up shiny again.
