i've used AVG for a few years now. Not let me down yet.

Ewido is a good one for a deeper scan than AVG does but it comes as 15days free and after that you get no further updates unless you pay.

I use AVG at home and a work & it's fine
It can be a bit awkward to find the free version - do a search in google for "AVG Free"

Good luck with getting Norton out of your system - I gave up in the end and installed a fresh copy of XP

Used to use V-com system suite, but have now downloaded and use AVG, it found 6 virus's system suite didnt pick up on the brother-in-laws computer.
