Default Bad Day?

Get to work, after not too much worry though the traffic of london.

Go to grab brekky, wallet at home...grrr...

Look at our monitoring system, ooh one of the internet connections is down. Pull router, swap power supply, revese of removal...

Ooh the database system is running slow, i'll restart the daemon...
clunk, die. Spend 1/2hr bringing ticketing system back online. Done.

Think, Ok, ill upgrade my dev box, set it up for more useful dev instead of doing it all on the servers, spend 3hrs doing a debian upgrade, need a new kernel. ****, ok. Sort that out, install grub. Macihne dies....

Spend the rest of the day rebuilding it. Gets to 7pm think meh, im going home.

I'll leave my baglux (which has my recovery details in) at work, bit more of a hoon without it. Roads will be clear by now.

Pass a scooter on the A40 who has broken down, do a quick turnarround and check hes ok, doesnt need anything etc....All good Green Flag on the way...

Get to Euston Road/Totenham crt road. Go to pull away....crunch, snap, stall. That'll be my clutch cable then. Have a look at doing a bodge job to get home. No Chance.

Oh look, my mobile is somewhere else....*sigh* finds payphone...(remeber i forgot my wallet....)

Get recovered home...
Pull bike apart fit spare 1/2 dodgy clutch cable, set it up, ready to go, pull in clutch...snap. Bugger.

anything else want to go wrong?

Dan

Close. Moral/s as I see it is:

A) Computers are the work of the Devil.

B) Always carry spare cables*.

C) Don't forget stuff.

*Tape the ends up so they don't go rusty, and route them alongside the fitted ones and then there's minimal bits removal to fit the cable if you have a breakage.
