Default 99 SV650 Mirror issues

Hi All,

This is my first post so hi to everyone. I have a quick question regarding "play" in the mirrors on my 650. The left mirror seems to be loose so that if I set it in one position, it tends to move a few mms due to braking and wind. I took the rubber cover off yesterday to see if there is a screw I could tighten but it looks to be rivetted in place.

Has this happened to anyone else? I could always glue the entire thing but then I lose the ability to flip the mirrors in when parking etc.

Can anyone recommend replacement mirrors, not necessarily OEM, but another set if they exist?

Thanks for your help.

Assuming this is the naked version, have you tried giving it an extra turn at the base? I had this problem after I'd had an off, just gave it an extra rotation where it connects to the bars which tightened it up.

It's not the naked version. Its the SV650S. Looks like there are two screws that connect it to the windshield but the actual pivot joint where the mirror "bends" has a rivet - that's where the play is.

the same thing happens to me, but as all I can see out of either mirror is just a fat elbow it doesn't really make much difference!

Hi, and welcome!

I have same problem with 99 650s. Had my mirrors off yesterday to replace front indicators and there's no prob with the bolts attaching it to the windscreen mount. You're right that there's excess play in the adjustable bit. I've found that the mirror tends to settle in one place as I ride, so I've simply adjusted it to that position.
If anyone's got any bright ideas I'd love to know.
I get agood view thru my mirrors! Tuck those elbows in!!
