Soggy brakes on X reg curvy
Has anyone worked out how to fix the soggy brake problem yet? My f brake lever is set on position 1 and still almost touches the bars before the brakes come on. I've been trying everything but every time I think I'm getting somewhere, they soften up again by the next time I go for a ride
 Help..........please??!!?!??! |

On a bike of that age it could be the brake hoses have collapsed inside - have you any knowledge of them being replaced?

Soggy Brakes
Hi,
I have just finsihed rebuilding my front brakes on a W reg curvy which cured the soggy feeling. A front brake lever with that much travel usually means there is air in the system or the master brake cylinder or one / both of the brake calipers is stuffed. In my case in was the seals on the calipers. Thinking about it it could also be the Brake Lines especially if they are the original lines. The old lines can expand under pressure giving the symptoms of soggy brakes My advice would be replace the lines with 2 full lines and get rid of the splitter. Blead the brakes. If this cures your ploblem they great if not you are into seal kits. Replacing the seals is not difficult just make sure everything is clean and remove all the corrsion form the calipers. hope this helps JPB |

Many thanx folks
 I have got braided lines since last month ( I thought that would be the answer) but no luck  So I guess I'll just have to keep bleeding the buggers to see if that helps. I've lost count of the times I've bled them now! Looks like I'll be investing in new seals. Last time I stripped them down to clean them, the pistons in the calipers looked like the'd been attacked with a pair of pliers. Anyone know how much replacements are?
