Default Stiction on Rebound of Forks

I know that stiction can happen normaly on forks, varing with the fork & seal condition but is stiction possable due to the rebound stacks not being very sensitive to oil flow?

I am only saying because i was noticing quite a bit of stiction on my forks yesterday, i decided to play a bit and found that just backing the rebound out by 1/4 made the forks return on rebound easier. I would say that the diffrence was probably 1-2cm of fork travel when forks compressed and then released.

Is this the noted rubish stacks that suzuki fitted to srad forks not reacting very well?

TSM, sounds like you've reached the end of any sort of useful adjustment. RaceTech (and no doubt others) have kits to allow a lot more fine-tuneability...

Yep i was looking at the race tech (~£125 + vat) kit or the K-Tech (£170 + vat) kit. The K-Tech looks better as its a complete replacement of the cartridge internals & stacks including a new rebound needle for finer adjustment, it also comes with a new compresion flow adjuster which is better than stock. The price looks reasonable for what the kit consists of though.

Which version of the 600 forks is it you have again, the earlier or later ones? The 750s have fairly similiar stacks, slightly better but it's the same fundamental design I think, not much stiction at all there.

I have 99 SRAD ones, i think the stiction only came from the rebound being a little to hard along with the 5w oil. This could be just because the adjuster is not very good or the stacks could be stuffed. Now i backed the adjuster out a little its not happening as much plus the ride is far smoother.

No, stiction can only come from dragging seals or from the bearing areas*, that's not to say that the stacks are working right of course.

*Worn or distorted bushes/recesses, bent tubes etc etc.
