Default Minimoto – when things go a bit pearshaped!

Ok this happed a few weeks ago, but I never really had cause to post it, but after reading this (rather more serious) thread. http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=42582 it reminded me about what happened to me, and I thought I’d post this to amuse!!

I enjoy partaking in a bit of minimoto every now and then, there are a few of us with our own bikes that go to an indoor place near Bristol. Crashing is all part of the game for us and the more we crash the funnier it is (as long as noone gets properly hurt obviously), we even try and knock each other off at times … Anyway about 2/3 of the way through the evening I had a caliper bolt come out on my bike … when I hit the brakes for the hairpin, the calliper span on the other bolt, jammed on the front wheel and spat me over the bars

My mate was following me with a helmet cam, he has just caught the event (might be worth watching it a couple of times as it is almost off shot).

Of course at the time I had no idea what had just happened and stood up rubbing my head; part wondering what the hell just happend and part where I had just smacked my head!!

I got lots of snippets I could extract from footage of me/us duffing up little kids on their minimotos etc. Its all quite amusing (or at least I/we think so )!!!

Bought one for the kids a few months ago, and took them to a local industrial est to have shot of it. After ten mins they all started to argue about who's turn it was... dad decides stuff the lot of you's I'll have a go! I proceeded to show them why you never get on one when wearing a t-shirt.. I also high-sided it and the scars on my arm and shoulder can still be seen To this day i have no idea how i managed to do it.. just remember thinking ouch every time i have had a shot of it since they remind me to use my spare bike jacket!

This is the place I go to:-

http://www.minimoto.co.uk/

Minimotos are great fun, but they have a bad rep where kids (and big kids - suicidesam ) are using them in unofficial areas.

If anyone is interested, then my mates and I are going to Hully on Sunday the 13th Aug.

Minimotos run between 4pm and 8pm on a sunday. It is £20 for the evening if you are a rider-owner (like me) but they do have bikes they will hire out to you for a price if you just fancy a go. You ought to give them a ring first to check price and availability mind.

You can get cheap minimotos for less than a ton delivered off eBay, these are great little starter bikes. I had (and still have) one of these, but have also got a more powerfull liquid cooled bike now (has about 4 times the power of the cheap ‘cags’). My bike is an Origami B1-rep, you can get them now for about £200-250, they are a bit cheap and nasty chineese copies of the official Blata Origami B1 (they are about £1500), but I have ‘sorted’ mine now and it is just as good/quick as my mates Blata 4.2, which is the aircooled little bro of the proper Origami and retail about £600-700.

If you fancy getting one then I’d be happy to give you advice from the lessons I learnt (the hard way ). There are forums like this http://www.minimotoclub.co.uk/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=10 where you can get all the info you need though.

Here is another clip, this time of me 'sliding about' on my old cheap CAG ... see they can be great fun

My mate and I tend not to take too many prisoners here is a another clip from another place called ‘Cheddar’. This was back when I still had my old cag and my mate had just got his Blata 4.2 (he is the camera bike again obviously). You can see the 4.2 has significantly more power than my cag … even still we had good fun, but after this little episode I was obviously obliged to get a more powerful bike … hence me getting the B1 rep. During the clip you will note that I actually resort to pulling myself along off him at one point when he was going to overtake!! All fair in love and minimoto!!

Oh and after I flipped the B1 where the calliper bolt came undone, I had to get some new forks (the flip/jam bent the old ones). I got some cool gold looking ones. You will also note the cool little twin wavy disks these bikes come with

A good slide is always followed by a little rejoice … especially if it didn’t end in binning it!!!

Here’s another little clip … (I’ll have to stop doing this in a bit before everyone gets piddled off, but I have just been browsing my minimoto video folder and remembering the good times!! )

I am wearing the camera lid now, and taking footage of one of our slower mates (on the red bike, black helmet) seems my other mate (the one who took all the other footage) is on his old CAG too. It also seems he wants to get in shot and rather rudely barges our slower buddy out the way … like I said - all's fair!!

Wheeyyyy another person. I've not been able to use my cheapo chinky one for ages as my friends have sold them so mine is left for 10 years till i pull it out again.

VERY nearly bought one of the B1 replicas but when the friends sold theirs, kinda lost interest.

Got a video of my friends crashing as well, but i can' view yours till i get home. Damn work.
