I have just noticed my coolant is running low and I have asked around and since I only got the bike a few months ago I have no idea what type of fluid is ina dn what I should fill it up with. Someone suggested I shouldnt fill it up but empty it fully out and start again.
Any advice? And then there is the question of how to empty it out and refill it. Pointy K3..... S.... Ta |

Any non-silicate ethylene glycol antifreeze mixed 50/50 with distilled water. There are many out there that are specifically for aluminum engines. You can mix up a half gallon (one quart distilled water and one quart antifreeze) to keep on hand for topping off. You metric types substitute liters for quarts.
However, if you are topping up more than a small amount every couple of months you should snug down all the hose clamps to see if that stops the seepage. |

Do you know when it was last changed from the service history?

It went through every service at the same shop. The one I bought it from and then fell out with.... I have no idea when it was lastchanged so i think it is best just to change it. (although the bike is only 3 years old and shoul dhave been changed once)
But I will pop to halfords and get some ready mix. How do I get all the old stuff out and do i have to lift the petrol thing to fill it up with new stuff? Also How much READY MIX do I have to buy to fill the entire bike up for empty??? Ta |

To drain it your water pump is on the right hand side near the cluch or where you fill your oil!! Theres a drain bolt on the water pump undo that and let it drain!!! As for how much fill your rad and the expansion bottle to the marks and run it to get rid of the air and check and top up as nes.

You need two litres or just over IIRC. I'd say buy three litres to be on the safe side.

Cool.. I will look into it as soon as I get some coolant. I should be okay as I am only just at the low point and I always watch the engine temp so I will just be careful!
Will get it done soon |
