Default Hello and goodbye!!

Hi folks, I've not been on for a while. I hope everyone is well and Grant, Drew and Gary, I hope you are healing well.

I see lots of new faces here so some of you might not recognise me but I've been an 650.org member for a couple of years now, back in the days when the pointy first hit the scene! I was one of the 'heathens' who slagged off the curve SV as a girls bike (all in good fun of course!) .

This post is to let you know that I'm giving up 2 wheels for good. After my fall in February I just could not face going back on the road and I couldn't be bothered with the bike, it's still in my back garden missing an indi and a back brake lever!!! It will be gettign fixed up in the next few weeks and sold. My girlfriend and I are getting married next year so I just can't afford to get the bike fixed or get something else at the moment. We are also thinking about the future and she would love to keep me alive for as long as possible. It's been an extremely hard decision but for her and my family, I need to give up bikes. I've gone back to my roots and bought a little hot-hatch so at least there is something to fire about the back roads on! At least now I will be warm, dry and I can enjoy a smoke and some tunes! I'll be sure to get my 'think bike' sticker on the back-window.

I had some great ride-outs with you guys, including my ill-fated track night (or should that be crash night) at knockhill and the irish run to Oban! So Nutty, Dean, Northy et all, take care out there and thanks for some fun times. Big thanks to Rab and Jim for helping me diagnose a broken front baring too! Anyone who is new to the site, you won't meet a better bunch of people!

Who knows, I might be back in a few years! In the mean time I'll be sure to wave if I see any of you out and about!

The SV and SV650.org will always hold fond memories

B-bye.

Sometimes I wish I was so sensible Well, sorry to hear this but if it's right for you then go for it. Hope we'll still see you around though- you can come out on a rideout once you get yourself a chavved-out 1.1 Clio

Take it easy man.. sad to hear someone giving up 2 wheels But your reasons are what stopped me getting a bike for years, got married and then along came 3 kids! All my friends were amazed that the better half let me get a bike but I've still got a VW GTI in the drive for the more sensible days
Doesn't mean you have to leave the forum though?

All the best for the wedding plans etc.. and mini Baz's

was wondering where you had disappeared to mate.

good luck with the wedding. but pop in now and again to chat.

see you in a few years once the kids have arrived along with mid life crisis.

proud of you for putting your family first, not an easy decision.

take care

we will miss you

Agree with all of that.

Thanks for the good wishes DB, haven't made a decision on my bike future either.
All the best.

Sorry to hear you're leaving the madhouse...

But you've got other priorities in life (girlfriend, family, etc), so they come first (and I commend you ). Wish I and others here could be as sensible as yourself. Keep yourself up to date here now and again. DON'T BE A STRANGER.

The next time we've a BBQ or a gang meal arranged, you'll still be more welcome.

The bike bug will always remain in the system, and at some point in later years you might come back to two wheels. That's a personal decision for yourself. Nobody can ever force you to do something if you don't want to.

Live long and prosper amigo. It was good seeing you on the runs.
James

Aw, thanks everyone, I'm welling up here!

I'll pop back in now and again, and who knows, might see you all in a few years on a SV750S K10 or something?

All the best and please take care of yourselves out there.

Never did get to meet you (yet?), but found your postings either helpful or worthwhile in some other way. It's a fair decision to make, but perhaps that hydrogen fuel cell SV will have us all gripped and out on a run in 2010.....

Cheers,

Garry
