I have tried to work this out by searching but can't find a definitive answer.
Is it only R & G that fit a pointy with lowers or do other makes also fit - without cutting the fairing that is. |

IIRC correctly its only R & G's that you don't have to cut the lowers for.

Yes but they're crap so what's the point of fitting them?
http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=42776 Please don't ask me to search for threads confirming my point of view, ask Abyss, Mr Toad, Northwind, Law's bent easily (but maybe he still likes them), Curium. Please would any of the above correct me if I am speaking out of turn. |

Because they are better than the Suzuki OEM bungs. Some insurance companies. i.e ebike who I'm insured with give you a discount for specifically fitting R & G bungs. I think its a bit harsh to say they are cr*p. I've dropped Liz's bike with R & G's on and they were fine. However I think it might be fairer to say in certain type of off they dont work as well as other bungs. However anything is better than nothing. They best way to avoid damaging your bike is to not fall off it in the first place.

As said above it does seem taht the R&G's are the only ones that you can fit without cutting fairing, which is strange, I would of thought other companies would of seen this and followed the example (give it time) |

Except if on balance, from the experience of forum users, they don't protect as well/expensively break themselves, compared with Moto sliders which (will hopefully) be half as expensive, then I think that's a bit cr*p. Anyway, I blame Quote:

Why has everyone got to walk on eggshells on this site?
Has it been sued for every penny it's got in the past? Surely everyone knows that all posts are only the opinion of the poster, and each poster will hopefully earn the respect they deserve. |

Anyway, i am also unhappy with R&Gs, most times they have popped out. I am going to try a new type called Motovation, they look similer to the old JHS ones.

OK, reading my post again in isolation from the other thread, it was a bit strong, but I was trying to impart that it was other people's experience, not my own.
I would love to fit R& G's as it would help me fit my fairing lowers gathering dust in the gargage because i don't have a fitting kit for them. |

I was just asking you to clarify what you were saying. You have to remember that alot of new riders visit here for advice and information and I personally don't think you have a very balanced view point on this. It seems to me that you've read a few posts and then made your mind up the R & G's are cr*p as you put it. Without really explaining why you felt like this. I'm sure this is not the case though and you have done lots of research into all the various types of crashbungs. Personally I'd take Northwinds point of view on this as valid becaue I personally know he has tried both types of bung and he personally finds that the Motosliders work better. Plus hes been able to explain why he prefers them, but you havent IMHO. I wouldnt want to mislead a new rider by giving them duff information. Its much easier to make your own mind when you can see both sides of the argument. IMHO of course.
