My workmate never showed up this morning. I saw her ancient nissan on the hard shoulder of the M40 and it looked like she had rear-ended someone

7 year old car?? Thats bad. This one is like 25 years old or something. The previous week the windscreen wiper ripped itself out of the metal socket and was walking itself all over the windscreen. I think its the cars way of asking to be euthanised

That's nuts.
My girlfriends brother was driving a fairly bet up car out in Miami. No air conditioning, so he had the windows all open. Anyway, he barreling along, and... the steering wheel came off, and, flew out the window. He managed to stop the car, no damage done. Put on the hazzards, strolled up the road a bit, got the steering wheel, and called the AA. I mean, none of us believed a word of it, until the invoice from the AA arrived, saying there would be no charge for re-attachment of steering wheel. You wouldnt see it in a film. |

lol! Maybe tapping along to his favourite tune too hard? I know I hit the steering wheel like a drum kit.

it happened to my wifes escort, bonnet lifted, smashed windscreen, tore hinges, and dented the roof. Suprisingly they fixed it on the insurance. it happened at 70mph on the outside lane of the M6. Total blackout as a sheet of steel appears in front of the screen, fortunately she got onto the hard shoulder safely despite having no visability.
A few times i have pointed out to fellow motorisists that their bonnets are flapping about as if they are not properly locked down. Usually my attempt to alert them is greeted with a pair of fingers.
