Heres an easy question..... - SV650.org

Well hopefully easy for someone...me being the newb that I am, I dont have a clue (I should stick to fixing computers)

So I had my first off, well I should say down because I didnt come off of the bike (went for a nice slide with it). Fell on the left hand side so needless to say the gear shift arm bent and the footpiece broke off. So I had a go at fixing it the cheap way, but broke the shift arm while trying to take the bend out. Long story short (not short anymore I guess) I have a brand new shift arm from the stealership ready to go on.

The whole assembly from the heal guard - out is sitting on my coffee table, and I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the foot peg off to replace the shift arm. The bolt on the back-side of the heal guard looks like a HUGE allen key but with twice as many corners (almost looks like its been stripped).

Its a 2000 s, its blue, and Im clueless (hopefully not for long, Im learning)

The bolt type i guess you mean is called a "TORX". It is a quite common bolt head type nowadays, so i guess you can get the tool for it almost everywhere they sell tools

(If you were in Sweden, you could have borrowed mine...)

Intresting I was fairly sure the footpegs were held on by Allen bolts but if that's not what it is then Torx is a good guess

Definately Allen bolts on a UK curvy but maybe they're anti tampering for the USA and Canadian market. Torx bolts seem like a good guess.

Thanks for the replies...it appears to be a #8 allen key... Just have to soak this part in some WD40 to get it to move!!

Glad you're sorted, but if anyone's reading this with a pointy, it requires circlip pliers on the outside, without removing heal plate etc. from bike - Thanks Law.

funny you should say that but i was in your town last year, we deal with a company called HTC who are based there. nice club in town centre, only opens about 3 nites a week. big hangover in the morning
