Getting an feel for the philosophy of "Its the rider, not the bike"
On the way to work today, was left feeling a LOT better about the GN than I had been, well there was this guy on a Ninja that I kinda left standing ![]() Still only 26 hours or so of GN-y goodness to go, 52.5 to test time, and 55.5 to (hopefully) SV pickup time. Trying to decide where to take it for its 1st spin - do I do a quick trip to Brighton, or do I cut across town and visit a mate just outside of Ware....... Brighton (and Motorways) sounds like fun, but I think stoppie-startie, up and down the gearboxie might be better for the bike ![]() Oh and an eyeball on a Yellow SVS with Hugger on the Albert Embankment today.... Hey, nice thread with a couple of Soul boys in it
![]() Anyhooooooo. If youre gonna be on a new bike remember it needs to be run in so i would advise against motorways till thats done. Thru town and out to Ware means you'll pass very close by me in Mill Hill so when the day comes give me a shout and i'll come out for a little play if you like. Was the guy on the Ninja asleep or looking a fit bird on the pavement ![]()

![]() But no, I left him at the lights twice, one just after the Bondway, and the other going onto Vauxhall Bridge ![]() And if there HAD been a fit bird, well I would have been looking too ![]() Of course it could be that he was just having a relaxed, chilled ride to work and didnt care about the learner on the POS125 ![]() David

Hehe. You do make me chuckle. I reckon the Ninja guy was letting you get away first, if he'd wanted to beat you he could have done

I just thought that after my last thread about the GN, I would come to its defence - it has actually taught me a bit over the last few days - stuff that will come in VERY handy when I get to go out on my SV. The bikes I had been on before, the CG125 and CBR500 both were quick off the line - I was having the CG up to 3rd at 30 by the time I was across most junctions - the GN cant really do that (tho maybe the GN125-2 is better). Made me dislike it a little at first, I wasnt very comfortable at not having that acceleration under my hand. Now I am VERY happy with it, and realise its not really better or worse than the CG125 was, just different. Thanks for the wishes of luck ![]() David

No probs. I managed to get my knee down on the GN but I really would not reccommend it, those tyres a re a little dodgy! I had the GN after someone nicked my GS125 and to me teh GN was a much better bike all round and more comfy too. When you get on an SV it will feel like a rocketship compared to the GN. I remember my first bike after the GN was a Zephyr 550 and I was convinced that it was the quickest bike in production. I used to go round telling people how I'd smoked R1;s and the like when the reality if it was the other riders were probably not even trying! Still, happy memories. Let us know how the test goes.
