Peeps....
Ridnig four years....with over a year on the sv. I'm an every day rider (don't own a car), and I'm being offered an 05 750 with 1.5k on the clock for a next to nothing price (trade in price a dealer would offer). I've read enough mag reviews of how well it handles on all aspects of riding, but I'm just wondering if any one has any experience of riding one. (Do plan to find a dealer that will le me out on one.) My daily commute is either mw or dc with a bit of twisty riding...dependant on route, but is about 30mins either way. But I like a good old hoon evey other Sunday afternoon. Is this sensible for a commuter all weather bike? Honest opinions welcome. Cheers, Neil |

It'll be fine. The screen is pretty effective at legalish speeds. I've never had a problem with back pain or sore wrists. The only time I do find the riding position a problem is prolonged periods of riding round town. I find mine comfortable and easy to ride. In fact I'd say that the seat is more comfortable than the seat on the SV.
I bought it at the end of March and its going in for its 7500 mile service next weekend. The riding position did take me a little time to get used to as did the IL4 engine characteristics. It has good midrange and good old dollop of torque to. I find I can ride it and use all the revs and all the gears like a 600cc IL4 or if I want I can be lazy and ride it in 5th or 6th all day long. I use mine in all weathers and I use it to commute on. Its held up fine. It does get washed regularly. I have noticed though that a a few of the bolts have got a bit furry. One thing I will say is change the BT014's for something else. I had cr*p milleage out of them and the rear went square very quickly. They are to soft IMHO for ever day use. Especially the sort of use that your going to do. I was getting 1800 miles from a rear BT014. I changed a put a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2Ct's on and I got 3000 miles out of the last rear. Fuel consumption wise I get 125 miles to a tankful of petrol before the fuel light came on, which is pretty much what I get out of my SV to. HTH

I went from a nekkid SV650 to a GSXR750 (well, via a Bandit) because I initially loved the sporty feel and the flickability of the GSXR.
Now, however, I'm returning to an SV, but a faired one this time. This is mainly because of the relative ease of the small V twin engine. I got fed up with having to work so hard up and down the gears and I didn't find the riding position around town at all comfortable. My wrists did suffer. On the other hand, if it's a good offer, go for it. I think your idea of getting a test ride on one from a dealer is a good way to go. I think it's always good to try riding many different bikes. If it doesn't work out for you then try something else. BTW if you have a Black K5 I'll swap it for my GSXR! :P

You could put a BT020 on the rear if you wanted... not exactly a Gixxer 750 owner here.. but a Kwak 636 owner.. got over 7000 miles out of my last rear tyre.. and I dont sit around on my bike at all... Im a knee down on both sides, top the bike out in a straight line person
