Default Tailored lowering

HI

I have found a local engineering company who will manufacture any size dog bones (stronger than originals and have been tested) to lower your bike to whatever inside leg you may have for £30

As on a previous post I have gone through alot of hassle putting GSXR 600 (K4) dog bones on to find that it was far too low for me and my legs are 29".

I measured the originals and the GSXR then went for a measurement in between which is bang on for me.

They do not have the shape of the originals but they do look good.

I had to cut the side stand down as it was just about upright. Again not a major job.

If anyone needs a specific height of bike give me a shout and we can sort it out for you.

Everyone is different with what is a comfortable ride height. I know you aren't supposed to have a flat foot on the ground but some people (including me and my wife) feel this is required to manouvre in difficult situations.

My inside leg is 29" and the original dog bones were too high for me even after cutting away 1/2" out of the bottom of the seat which I must say has made the seat far more comfortable as there is more give.

I reckon an inside leg of 32/33" would make the standard SV650 a perfect fit and the GSXR dog bones would make it perfect for someone with a 26/27" inside leg but the bike looks crap and you cannot fit a rear hugger. Somewhere in between is required.

Alot of the lowered dog bones out there will not lower the bike enough for those that are vertically challenged, like me. The ones I have had manufactured can be made in any length and are very strong. We were advised not to do them in stainless and he would lose sleep after they snapped and I killed myself.

I would have paid any price if this option had been available from a supplier and was not trying to be cheap but because this has worked I think it is only fair to pass onto other tiny people my good fortune!

29" inside leg? Try having a inside leg measurement of 26/27" like me.

I'm not sure you understand my post, I got the official longer dog bones to lower my SV as standard height meant I couldn't touch the floor at all. With an inside leg measurement of 29" the offical suzuki longer dog bones should have been fine for you, I would suspect that you would be able to get your feet comfortably on the floor.

29" is the same as me, can you get your toes/balls of your feet on the ground? can you get 1 foot down is you slide over a little bit?

Thanks for any info since i would like to know how much dangle space i will have to put up with when/if i get a sv.

Jebus - On a standard 2003 sv I could just get my toes on the floor but not the ball of my foot, therefore pushing the bike aroud was almost impossible if you were on a slight incline. Both myself and my wife have dropped the bike at a standstill because of this. Not good.

Kate - Getting the information on exact measurements of the official longer dog bones is very difficult from our helpful (drawing blood from a stone) local suzuki agent. This is why we tried the GSXR ones to try to keep to suzuki parts which in a long drawn out way was very helpful as we could then work out the exact measurement we needed for my little legs.

26/27" inside leg is very unfortunate but I am sure it does not alter your performance on a bike. Munchkins are always the ones you under estimate!!!
