Got a few miles on an unfaired pointy and really enjoyed it.
Mechanically very similar to mine of course...but with differences. The unfaired bike is far more comfy with its high flat bars and a straight backed riding position. Around town, it was brilliant and BMX like in its ease. Really good. The engine seemed to have a bit more low and mid range too...i think they have altered the gearing and the rear sprockets to make it accelerate faster than my S. At the expense of top speed. The unfaired bike was far less jerky as well. My bike seemed to have an off/on switch by comparison. 60 mph felt really really fast! The only problem was the front end felt light and not as planted as my S. A bit too floaty. My bike felt far more secure in the high speed corners. More tyre feedback. Would certainly consider an unfaired now! Cracking bike! |

The light front feel disapears if you tuck in a bit. In fact, on longer rides you will find the airflow holds you up and prevents the back aches/leg cramps you encounter with clip- ons and high pegs. You will set upright to take the pressure off your suffering spinal cord. I love a true sport bike for about half an hour, then age and a badly spent youth tell me that my hour of glory may be over. I love the naked SV because the only other thing close to what we used to call a "standard" is the Triumph Bonnie, which even with better brakes and no oil leaks is pretty much what we had in the '70s.

My dad and the bloke across the road where reminising about bikes like that the other day...all misty eyed they went.
ESPECIALLY when the subject of Triumph Tiger Cub's came up... ...many a story my dad tells begins with "when I had my triumph tiger cub..." ![]() Matt |
