Default Testing a bent yoke

The sv650 I purchased suffered from a front end collision, bending the front forks and puting a very small dink in the front wheel.

Now when I bought and fitted replacement forks, they were QUITE difficult to slip into the top yoke which I can only assume was because the bottom yoke is out of allignment by a minute fraction. After getting them fitted and the wheel on, the bike runs fine up until 40mph where the front wheel begins to weave.

I pinned this down to a very slightly twisted and bent front wheel spindle. No doubt this spindle mashed the bearings so I have ordered their replacements as well.

However - As I wait for my new front wheel spindle to arrive, I ask - Can a bent bottom yoke cause any real problems when it comes to handling? If so, is there any test that I can do to find out if it is indeed bent, other than just slipping the forks through them? I have a spare bottom yoke but don't want to go to any hassle of fitting it if it's not necessary.

Am a bit clueless when it comes to yokes and stuff. Thanks in advance.

Remove the front wheel and loosen the top and bottom yoke fork clamp bolts. Then slide the forks down and back up if they go in smoothly, great, if not, try loostening the big bolt at the top of the head stock (30mm IIRC) and see if that helps get it to line up, if not it's not a lot of extra effort to pop the top & bottom yoke off and put them on a flat surface to see if they're ok. (Plus you can grease & check the head races while you're there)
