does the camera definately take AA's? Manufacturer & model?
I'd suspect it either NEEDS the highpower ones, or the batteries you put in it aren't 100%. |

You should go for rechargable batteries, they last a lot longer than normal AAs in digital cameras. Oh and you will need a lot of em. Older cheaper cameras were very power hungry.

Are they rechargeable batteries? If so, you need to charge them before use.
What exactly do you mean by cutting out? First thing to do is try new batteries. |

Try and get lithium batteries - these have alot more energy avaliable than Nickel-cadium ones.

Deffo need rechargeables just to deliver the grunt the early digicams needed. Even brand new alkalines would often only do half a dozen shots before running out of puff.
NiMH probably the best compromise for what you need, perhaps try http://www.eurobatteries.com/sitepages/nimh.asp bigger capacity the better, 2500mAh about the biggest AA available, don't bother with 1300mAh or similar which is what some AA rechargeables are....... and of course you'll need a charger. That's just one of the big advances in digicams, battery life. |

embee is right.
Mostly you should check the Ah the camera requires. Higher Ah batteries are better. If the Ah of your battery is lower than required the camera won't function properly after a few shoots. |

My old camera used to eat AAs like that... It'd last forever on the CRV3s, several hundred shots with LCD and flash, but I only got about 30 out of brand new Duracell AAs. They were still fine for other stuff, though.
Does the camera have the option of a purpose-made camera battery? CRV3 is the same size and shape as 2 AAs, you used to find quite a lot of cameras that took either.
