stupid question time ...

what powder is used in powder coating? plastic? somethign else?

is it worth doing? how much would it cost for a set of wheels?

What sort of powder? Coating powder!

Or in other words, don't know

But, I've had my wheels done and it's a very nice finish, and very tough. It's not brittle as paint tends to be, so it withstands stone chips and tyre irons better than most paint jobs. I think I paid £100 for both wheels and the sprocket carrier in metallic gold, that was with the wheels totally stripped but not prepped. That was BBS in Edinburgh, who I'll use for the next time too.

Basically powder coating is the process of heating an metal object then dipping it in a powdered paint and then heating again. the poiant thewn forms a covering layer over the metal object that when cool is very hard wearing

I always thought powder coating uses a electrical current pasted through the metal and the powder sprayed onto it then baked in an oven!!!!!

esentially the same process but just a differnet way of applying the paint.

My way was how i was taught to do it at school but the way with electrical current is how they do it now as it gives a more consistant coating.

It is indeeda type of plastic.The rack they put it on grounds it. When the spray leaves the gun it's statically charged, so is attracted to the object.
