Default My 8 year old daughter taught me how to pour beer

So I was pouring myself a beer in the kitchen this evening and my daughter was watching me. It was a bit frothy and she says "You're doing that wrong". "what?" says I. She answers " You want to wet the glass before pouring the beer in and it will stop the bubbles forming on the rough surface of the glass". So the next beer I took her advice and behold - much less froth !!.

"How did you know that?" I says. "Saw it on brainiac this afternoon" she replied.

The things kids watch in the half term holidays.....

You want to tilt the glass.

How would wetting the glass make the beer go flat then? Cause you are diluting the beer? Surely that is going to make no difference.

Or am I being thick here?

The bubbles form on 'dirt' on th glass, so presumably wetting the glass cleans it so the bubbles don't form. So won't this make it take longer to go flat?

I propose several rounds of exhaustive testing.
