I've commuted each day this week by bike (60 mile round trip) despite the drop in temperatures and must say I have enjoyed it even more than in the summer! I think it's the combination of heated grips (why didn't I get them before?) which was the only previous winter downside and some really good clear and sharp mornings when the countrside looks great.
Sometimes in the summer I am tempted not to put the gear on cos it can feel pretty hot until you get going whereas in winter I start warm and stay warm. It has helped that there have been some stunning traffic queues this week so filtering has been a special joy! Any other nutters who prefer winter riding?! |

I'm still riding to work, but the temperature here is still in the 21 degree region so that doesn't count eh?

Yeah its ok but when you do 150 a day in the freezing cold it gets quite old very quickly especially when you are awaiting the cable that attaches the battery to my heated gloves to be returned from the insurers! Believe me 2 sets of gloves on a naked hornet 600 gets your pinkies like iceblocks!

I love the cold and crispy days. More autumn mornings than winter mornings tho. But its nice with weather like this to think that typically this is as cold as it will get for us (albeit so much better as its dry).
Last March, near Hay, borderlands ![]() Shameless photo opportunity Its a great feeling in the countryside when its cold and sunny I think riding for pleasure. Course bit different if you have to ride when its mingin'. |

Just wait for the wind and rain to join the temperatures

I don't mind the cold, I don't enjoy filtering or riding in heavy traffic in the dark though.
I've managed two commutes on the bike this week. |
