I'm new to biking and I passed my test last month, so far i've done over 1000 miles on my lovely SVs.
I bought waterproof textile gear with it been winter etc, all is well, warm and dry etc, but I find myself stuggling to stay on the seat i'm always slipping/sliding about. I try grab the tank with my knees, but i just slide when braking or going down hill. Now is this the textiles. (do leathers stick to the tank/set better??) ...or am i polishing my bike too much! ![]() .... or is there summit i can do! Thanks! |

Hmm not had this problem with my textiles or leathers.
Maybe it is polished too much or you should put some tank pads down the side of the tank? I'd be a bit worried if you are slipping and sliding about to the point that you have to grab the tank with your knees though. |

Leathers tend to be better than textiles they don't slide around as much!!!!

This sounds like a polish problem or you've used too much wax shampoo with too little water and not rinsed it off.
I prefer to ride in leathers but it's betting pretty chilly now ![]() |

You could get some wonder web (or the cheaper alternative from DIY stores) or the fitted version called Triboseat and use that on your seat - it is very grippy, I use it for the passenger seat.

Have you cleaned the seat with something? As far as I'm aware its really not normal to slide around to the extent you are suggesting. I ride in textiles far more than in leathers and I have yet to slide as you are suggesting. If you haven't cleaned it with something interesting, wonderweb is great for grip.
