Default Aftermarket Headlight Bulbs

OK, I want new headlight bulbs!

Are Osram Silverstars the best ones to get or is there something better?

Is there anywhere local to Edinburgh/Glasgow that sells them or is it better to get them online (would buy locally even if a few quid more because I'm never in to take mail order deliveries!) How Much?

Thanks Guys.

The reviews say Silverstar.
£12 on ebay - sure you could ask for non registered post if they fit through your letterbox.
i have them, not sure how much of an improvement, but just happy to have the best that I can.

I have been playing about with getting new bulbs for mine too.

Just been on www.sounddistribution.co.uk

and they sell

Philips Blue Vision H4

which apparently got 21/25 from Ride quote" No one Scored better"

What fitment do you need to get for SV curvy? PBVH1, 2, 3???

Any good quality(Branded) bulb will improve the light on the SV. The std is a 45/45w H4 bulb.

I use the silverstars in my car and bike, but i did have the Philips Xeon Xtra (+60%) and found them slightly brighter, but this was in the car. Just remember any coloured lens will reduce output.

If you have money to burn and want the best then check out PIAA Hi/Lo bulbs, the superwhites are stunning, but not cheap!!

Or a HID kit!

Wot he said, I use to have Philips Bluevision which were a great improvement on the stock ones (I think Osram (not Silverstars) were stock) I now have PIAA Extreme White which are not as much as an improvement over Bluevision, as Bluevision over stock were.

PIAA are brilliant. But what are they now, about £60 for a pair of H4s? Then, they ought to last a long time. I use Osram myself, because I'm tight and they work.

I re-read my unclear comment, PIAA are great, best of the 3 bulbs I've used. Just expensive and other bulbs do improve on the stock almost as well for cheaper. None of my bulbs I replaced have blown btw, they're sitting around as spares.

Phillips GT150 H4's

They have a blue coating so they look blue only when not switched on but are a white light when on, advertised as 60% brighter and its no lie, also replaced the sidelights but cant remember what to. Paid £20 inc post for the headlights think halfords do them for about £25.
Chalk and cheese compared to the stocks.

Riding down to blackpool colin thought I had my full beam on, and back the way in the dark on unlit roads and motorway If i put the fullbeam on when riding behind him it was brighter and further than his stocks.

PS how bloody boring is motorway riding.
