Default Chinese 200cc off-roader

Ive been offered an X-stream 200cc trail bike for less than £700. The bikes just coming up a year old and has 700 miles on it. Worth it or waste of money? Theyre tempting but im not sure whether they'd be up to green laning.

Better off spending more and getting older honda/yam/kwak/Suz?

yep, you are.
trials bike prices are coming down at the moment, and a 2nd hand DT, xr etc, will hold its value more, and cost you less to run.

Don't know what the X-stream ones are like but the Hongdou ones are only £599 new.

Too dear. They are virtually worthless used, and should be thought of as almost a use and throw away product.£200 tops.

Old Wives tales abound! Spares are more readilly available now than ever before. Get one at the right price purely for your own use and not with a view to resale value in the future and you will for sure get your money back from it. You can also get many copy parts which in truth would actually be better than those that come on the bike as standard. Much more than most will from their "first brand" products....me included!

Pm Marko he has one and as far as I know he is very happy with it as his winter hack.

Hi I ride a 05 KTM for greenlaning locally, also done several local enduros, the 12 hr dawn to dusk and a couple of long weekends in wales and the peaks, the amount of punishment these things take (and survive) is unreal. i would go for an older jap bike purely for ease of spares, build quality, and reliability.some of the chinese bikes might as well be built of tin foil.
