Default Mikuni race cans

I have tracked down a reasonable SV650S. It looks OK and the price is right. Though it does have some Mikuni race cans fitted -rather loud. I have searched the web and can't seem to find any info on this system.

It is a complete 2 can system without balance pipe. I am presuming that it is a race kit and not for road use.

Does anyone know this kit?
Can I fit baffles to quieten it down?
Will it (or rather should) have been re-jetted?

Thanks

Have you actually seen this SV or are you going by a written / verbal description ?

The reason I ask is that I wasn't aware that Mikuni made exhaust systems.

I've just done a quick 'Google' & none of the hits on Mikuni mentions cans - only what Mikuni are known for - carburetors.

Supervox,

The bike can be seen here
http://www.cheshiremotorcyclesalvage.com/600to750.htm

It is not the cleanest, but at a good price! OK for my commute to work. The pipes exist and I can vouch for their volume!

I have left a deposit. The add and photos show the pipes.

I checked out several at DK , the cheapest was over twice the price. One at DK's had a slip on (single muffler) of the same brand.

Though that someone should know them.

Never heard of Mikuni doing an exhaust, interesting routing on that system tho.
Have you heard the bike run? Done an HPI check on it?

The highlighted info above & the fact that it is listed in the 'Damaged Repairables' section would set alarm bells ringing in my mind - DK are well known for their low prices.

But, then again I'm a mechanical moron with the technical & engineering skills generally associated with brain dead baboons !!

The bottom line is if you've checked out the bike & feel confident that it is what it seems & that you can get any further required work done reasonably - then go for it !!

As to your original question - I'd would have thought that you'd be able to get a Db Killer fitted which should reduce the noise a bit.

As with all vehicles at this end of the market it is buyer beware. That said it looks genuine as a part exchange and not crashed bike. No tel tail scuffs on the bits that cannot be changed. I recon it will do me OK.

As for the pipe - it may have been brought directly from Japan on ebay. Odd that I can't fine a Mikuni exhaust on the web though.

It may be difficult to find a dB Killer to fit off the shelf. Do you know anyone that can make them up to suit?

As for a HP check. It may be worth it. Though the bike is a '99. What is the pest price on a Check?

Thanks
