Default Anyone know much about car dealers?

I'll be wanting to trade in my M reg fiesta 1.6si and a renault scenic (1.6, 5dr, air con, yadda yadda yadda) fairly soon.

What I want to know is if dealers will actually do a straight trade, the 2 for one car...? No money exchanging at all...

Any ideas?

if you went to a dealer that had ford and renault branches (like a benfields renault which had a benfields ford etc) then they might as they can shift the cars pretty easily. However you'll get a pretty ****ty price for each car. If you can be bothered to sell them i would. But sometimes the lazy option is just much more appealing :P
good luck!

Doubt it, unless the resale value of the 2 is greater than the value of the car you are buying, will only give you the trade price on each car which is less than the value of the car sold privately so better if poss to sell yourself and take hard cash then bargin

I'm thinking about doing this with our cars, TBH I reckon that we'll get a better price for them if they are sold privately. It depends on the condition of your cars and wether or not the dealer can shift them on easily or not.

We may well keep Liz's Skoda though and trade it in against a Skoda Octavia if thats what we do end buying, I'm defo going to sell my Fiesta privately though.

I have traded two for one before - I traded a Citroen Synergie (7 seater MPV) and a Ford Escort Mk5 Cabriolet for a Saab turbo convertible from a non franchised dealer.

Going to a main Ford dealer might not help as most would not put an M reg Fieasta on their forecourt - most would trade it straight out, or auction it. Likewise with the Scenic, unless it is less than 4 years old and low mileage.

Your easiest option is to chop them both in if you can find a dealer who will do that, you will make more money if you sell them both privately but it is usually more hassle e.g:-

Having to spend time/money tarting them up
Having to spend money on advertising
Waiting around for tyre kickers who never turn up
Selling both cars and then being without a car at all until you get a new one
