I've just got myself a rather swanky cnc'd alloy fuel cap that has no lock and the actual cap merely unscews when you need it too.
Now i think i remember reading somewhere that this type of cap is a problem when it comes to MOT time. can anybody confirm this or am i talking rubbish and if you cant have them what is the reason? |

Hi Ian.
Not a problem with the MOT according to Steve who is a tester as long as it doesnt leak and seals properly. There is no requirement to have a key. Cars have a similar system anyway - well my bmw does. did you try and call me the other day?. My parts guy mentioned it today!..typical. ![]() |

That would depend on what I've been drinking the night before I suppose.
Don't get me wrong, I like those caps but I'd never fit one to a bike that ever gets out of my sight when out of the garage.

i know what you mean if i had to leave my bike anywhere then i wouldnt fit one as god knows what could end up inside my tank possibly worse then your wee.
More then likely the cap would probably just get knicked. luckily my bike hardly ever gets left unattended apart from when its locked in the garage i dont need it to commute or anything its totally just a toy for me. its worth the risk for the sheer pose value and it matches my nice pazzo shorty levers ![]() |
