Ok as said to a few people, off the the US for a week in March.
Just had an email from my mate over theres' father-in-law, the summary of which is he has access to 3 bikes, a CB750 (his son's but not used for ages), a Goldwing, and his new prode and joy, a Harley Roadking. So given the choice of the CB750 or the Goldwing which should I choose ? Other option I guess would be to use the strong pound to buy a second hand bike and leave it there for when I visit - certainly no problem with storing it. Mind you, with 2000 'busas selling for £1000 ![]() Not sure how far I will be doing but there was this paragraph...... Quote:

Dave one of my bikes is a CB750F2, and it's an armchair, so comfy, but not supertanker like, not and SV, heavier and more planted, but movable (unlike the goldwing),well up to a couple of hundred miles a day with no ill effects, but still able to throw around the odd corner (had mine out at brands once on a trackday
![]() ![]() Given you choice the CB 750 would be my choice. Mines the same as this (or was). ![]() Cheers Mark.

As said in the post tho, it is tempting to get my mate to buy something using my money and leave it there for when I visit, if a busa can be got for a grand, I wonder what a curvy or a 98-01 Ninja 6 can be had for. ![]() My thoughts are that my experience is on sports bike, so should I go for that, or try something new. Who knows I might get a shot on the Harley and just have to get one when I get back ![]() David |

given you'll be presumably riding with a Harley, an good 125 should do you
![]() but no, any sports bike is going to leave it for dead, so you might as well go for a bit of comfort, I'd aim at a roadster of some sort. Riding a Harley is an experience, but doesn't count as a motorcycling one ![]() Cheers Mark.

Dont forget depending on where you are going there may be long distances with no bends
![]() You would enjoy Daytona, esp if you like looking at ladies on bikes with very little clothing and nice bottoms ![]() ![]() |

Daytons's out - he didnt realise I was only there for a week
![]() Still and I quote "My last trip to Florida lasted about 10 days so this may not work. I suggest we pick a clear day and point ourselves towards warmth and sunshine. Two days of riding sounds good." Looking forwards to that ![]() David |

I'd have to ask where state side you are going, it may be warm in Florida but other states may still be under a few feet of snow in March, 850 miles is hinting at NY, flown over that in May and its still been white

I'd try the 'Wing, everybody should sometime, you'll be surprised how something that big can ride so easy.
Whilst it's not exactly my idea of biking, I'm always pleased to have a go when I'm lucky enough to be offered, and you should too.

If I was going to ride a harley I couldnt think of a better country to do it - but a Road King - boy those things look like buses. Is there no option for a V-rod or something a little more.... cooler
