Angry Website / e-mail hosting - recommendations?

My website and e-mail has been hosted for the last 12 months by UKHost4U - as chosen and sorted by the guy who designed and runs my website.

However, hotmail has recently started rejecting e-mails sent from my account (I guess it's suspecting me of spam) - and though the last time I complained of this to UKHost4U it got sorted, it's started happening again.

My main problem though is UKHost4U's complete disregard for customer care. I have e-mailed them 3 or 4 times in the last couple of weeks about this, and an accounts matter, and they've not replied to a single one of my e-mails. Neither will anyone answer the phone on their 'customer helpline' number.

Unfortunately I've just forked out £46 for the next 12 months' hosting - and I can't see me getting a refund on this.

But can anyone recommend a good web-hosting company?

Thanks!

Caroline,

Pipex seem to be doing a great deal in recruiting a huge number of Customer Services people. Technically they're great, but their customer service "was" a bit poor. Seems like they're trying to turn the corner, but I don't know what they charge.

Obviously, Greg would be a good guide on this.

About a year ago I dealt with a company called tagish Limited - I did the webhost agreement with them for a district council in Cheshire. I've no idea about technical performance but their business approach was impressive, no messing about, and we did the deal in no time.

If they seem to be messing you about, and you will not get your money back, I may be able to help. Not get your money back as such, but provide you with a hosting package free for a year or something. Usual price is £49.99 + VAT PA.

If you're interested just drop me a PM. You could then leave your domain where it is, and change the nameservers, which (should) help you avoid any transfer fees.

With regards to the spam/hotmail issue, maybe your current host has had an IP range blacklisted with Spamhaus or similar? Worth asking when they eventually answer the phone!

I have been with Simply.com for the last few years and never had serious issues which has been suprising looking back over that time. Any tech problems (usually from me making changes to domains or playing with software) have been quickly resolved and ph support has always been curtious and quick to sort out. They also made it dead easy for someone that didnt have much experience in these types of things.

I work for Namesco, which is the company that bought Simply.com a few years back. I've been there 6 years, and head the customer services team. Glad to hear you are pretty happy with us gmonsta

We recently had the same issue at work Caz. After a fair bit of reseach we went with these guys. www.fasthosts.co.uk as they were cheap, easy to set up and from the few times ive had to call technical support to get advice, quite helpful.

Well worth a try hun as you can add on features to the basic package as you go if you feel you need them.
hth

Oh and both JB & TSM reccomended them to me
