Default How do you remove an alarm?

I have a Datatool System 3 alarm on my SV and as I won't get any insurance payout for it was wondering how hard it is to remove it and wether it would fit any other bikes?

Bear in mind my lack of electrical knowledge means I can barely wire a plug.

Well I personally would leave it on... They are bound into the loom apparently cos I have one on mine. It would need to be certified when it is put back in too so i dont think it would have any advantage to take it out. Why wont you get your money back on it? Suppose it would do for parts but I wouldnt have thought so.

Did you smash your bike (I do see now dead in your sig)

Andy, personally, leave it on.

If you're desperate to remove it though, I'm in North Wales. Pop down one sunny sat/sun morning & I'll take a proper look for you.

Give me a fair bit of notice though (about a week) to get stuff sorted for the weekend

EDIT: I've just seen the sig as well

PM me your email address, I have the fitting instructions for the System3 (inc wiring diagram). Fitting varies from fitter to fitter, but generally, follow the wires from the alarm, take a couple of hours tops to strip a System3 from a loom.

I haven't touched an abletronics unit, but abletronics themselves are pretty good. I've heard stories in the past where a bike has grown legs, and abletronics have paid the excess on the insurance policy (because the bike was recovered & it was shown that the imobiliser didn't do its job properly).

Still, methodical approach & it shouldn't be too bad. Maybe 2 pints for the abletronics

EDIT: I'm assuming you're talking about the Abletronics Absolute Protec (not Pro) btw. Thatcham MC1 approved?

Thanks guys. I thought it would be difficult, otherwise it would be easy for the thieves to do it too. Just want to remove anything I wont get money for. The exhaust and rearsets were damaged so I will get money for them (hopefully).

When you get to the shopping cart bit & payment processing, there's a box to enter more info. You'll need the 16 digit code from your alarm to hand. They program it their end, then ship it. Then you just need to tell the alarm to accept the new keyfob (which they send instructions for) and bobs you mum's brother.

I think you're looking at the M357TV2 for your abletronics, not sure though.

If you're not sure over which is compatible with your alarm, give them a call, they're usually pretty helpful, but only sell stuff to you online.
