hi all
i am moving house and will now be commuting from westof oxford to centre of london daily. it is around 150 miles round trip most of which is motorway. M40 and A40. the fazer or sv seem a good weapon of chioce. thinking about what is most suited ? fuel ecomony, comfort and wind protction i guess are the main factors. also need to take into account the service intervals and insurance. fazer forum has given me som good info on fazer side of thinggs i hope someone can give me a little bit of advice as to what i should do. many thanks in advance jas |

Fazer.
V-Twin vibes and inefficiency are not what you are after ... the turbine smooth Fazer is the way to go ![]() |

You're asking an SV owners site which bike is better? I think our responses may be a tad rose tinted.
What age bike are you talking about? Isn't the new Fazer really gutless compared to the old one, let alone a V-twin SV? |

Not so, he is asking which bike is more suited to commuting!
![]() "fuel ecomony, comfort and wind protction" being the main factors ![]() The SV being inferior in at least 2 of them departments!!! ![]() Now if ‘fun’ and 'sound/noise' were elements, it’d be a different outcome ![]() Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 21-03-07 at 03:41 PM. |

Either will be quite adequate for the job so try them out for comfort and choose which one suits you.The Fazer is,of course, pig ugly, like much of the present Yamaha range.

Bandit not in the mix? Smooth, comfy seat and bullet proof engine. Recent ones have ABS for those OMG moments to.

"captain sensible" would go with the fazer every time.
The new Bandits are going cheap these days... Have you considered a DL650 V-Strom? |

![]() Seriously though, the best motorway commuting bike I've had was my Ducati ST2 - a v-twin, though not the most reliable bike ever. If it were me, I'd be looking something a little bigger than a 600, with a decent fairing. Last edited by wyrdness; 21-03-07 at 04:55 PM. |

I commute on my SV650S K6 daily. 100mile round trip.
I've been on journeys of close to 1000miles in 48hours on the bike. Not a problem. Fuel economy is OK for me, comfort again, fine, wind protection... Well, I live in North Wales & have regularly ridden in winds up to around 45mph gusts. No issues. Take them both for a test ride, see which is best for you. And welcome to the mad house! |
