Default How that for timing :(

Been very good on the bike for years, even enrolled in IAM to try to get better.

Being made redundant but got a job interview already on Tuesday.
Get a bit annoyed at work today and I'm going to be working from home all night to fix someone elses screw up so I was a bit p**sed off coming home and egged it a bit...and got pulled over.

First time in 4 years that I've been done, 2nd offence and it's another instant ban for exceeding 100, right before I get made redundant and need to attend a job interview which is actually a step up (pay rise and training) but requires I have my own transport as I will cover 3 offices....

I must be doing this on purpose subconciously or I have the worst luck in the world...
My own fault and there is no excuse for it I just can't belive the timing of it.

Can I plead stress induced insanity?
Will turning upto court in a dress help my case?

I don't want to get your hopes up too much, but I know someone who was in a similar situation to yourself - got pulled at just over the ton and figured he was looking at a ban, and had to have his own transport for his job. In the end he only got a 3 week ban, albeit with a very hefty fine. The judge (or is it a magistrate - same difference?) took his need for independent transport into consideration when assessing the case.

Guess it depends on what speed you were doing & previous history etc, but it might not be as bleak as you think.

Oh and good luck with the job interview BTW.

Muchos Gracias and I'll keep my toes crossed.

Hopefully the fact that I enrolled myself in IAM BEFORE this incident will work in my favour as it shows I am trying to be a responsable driver.

I'm just worried the previous record will hurt my chances.

err..the fact I hadn't gotten round to putting the new tax disk on (I do have it though) didn't help me either...didn't actually realise it was an offence not to display it as I thought given it was all digital now that it would show up taxed and that would be that so I wasn't in a hurry to buy the tool bit I needed to open up the tax disk holder

If the worse came to the worse and you got banned from your bike licence, wouldnt you be able to continue your job using a car licence? (thats if you have one)

I dont know if car licence's and bike licence's have seperate points/bans etc though... out of interest, does anyone know if they do/dont?

Do continue with the IAM (when you can). One of the key skills is observation...

108, I was egging it but not flooring it and that number is the one he gave me, I have no idea what my speedo says as (not that I said this to them) my mind was on work and how my evening just got ruined (little did I know I was about to really spoil it myself)

The car and bike provisions all go on the same licence and its the licence that gets banned not your provision to drive whatever vehicle you were caught in/on so no...and I don't have a car licence lol.

As for the IAM and observation I agree =p
The cop mentioned that if I had been doing proper observations I wouldn't be here because I would of seen him at which point I thought yes....you're right...no need to rub it in though..

Bad luck mate.

When you say second offence do you mean your previous was also for doing over 100? If so this is probably a bad thing.
If it wasn't then then maybe you'll get away with just a couple of weeks and a fine, if you explain that losing you licence will lose you your job. I've known this happen to friends more than once.

On the plus side, the punishment whatever it is will not kick in until after the court appearance I think. This may be many months away, so you'll still be able to go to your interview and hopefully start your new job. And then deal with the situation when it actually happens.

Or maybe I've got this all wrong, there are more knowledgeable people than me on here to advise.

Bad news, Psycho.

I've just enrolled for IAM too, firstly beacause I got banned last year and can't afford the insurance hike of another; secondly, because I got wiped out by a taxi pulling out. Something I'm usually pretty good at spotting but didn't that time, obviously.

Need to learn a bit of restraint and save it for the track. God, I'm starting to sound like an IAM type.

I'm all for a bit of silliness on a motorbike, but having to explain yourself to a magistrate (who at best won't understand what we do, at worst will hate us) is a very belittling (sp) experience.
