Default Working in a Sauna!!!

The air conditioning in my office hasn't worked for 3 months. When it does work it doesn't work properly, and there are massive variations in temperature.

Today, it's been 35 degrees (C) since about 12pm. Lot's of people are unhappy- including me. But I don't know what to do.

The Government doesn't give a maximum temperature, only a minimum.

We have huge windows that have been sealed shut, and we're absolutely not allowed to open them, for, get this; health and saftey reasons.

What can I do?

Been there, whined like mad, eventually the management sorted that one out... I don't get along with heat, so I know what you're going through. Keep drinking water, wet your neck and shoulders, and whine about it some more.

No maximum heat provision though for working, unlike minimum temps.

Drink water and get on with it i'm afraid

We complain about it all the time, and nothing gets done. Engineers come round but they never actually fix the problem.

I wear contact lenses, and it's so uncomfortable to have a fan on blowing air into my face.

I think I'm going to call in sick tomorrow with heat stroke and set a precedent. That way, next time it heats up, I can say 'that's it, I'm off now, otherwise I'll just get heat stroke again'.

find the plant room and hit the off button...

seriously AC when it doesnt work will run hot turn it off and the building will cool down over night..it will warm up over the day too but wont be so bad unless its 35 outside..

do bear in mind and you can mention to them that it is there reponsibility to mainataon AC systems that means keeping records and service logs, as badly mainatained AC can encourage the growth of legionaires etc etc...

The air conditioning has not been working for 3 months, as in nothing, not blowing, not sucking, and certainly no conditioning.

The office heats up just like a green house, it is east facing.

The stupid thing is that I work for Westminster Council, you'd think that us cushy council employees would get it easy.

(Have now decided a day off would do me good. I'm going to Stratford-Upon-Avon with a friend tomorrow to see a play )
