Hey guys,
I think I have asked about riding pants once before, but this time I know what I want, just need advice on the fit. Not many riders here wear full leathers like you guys, but I figure I want to save my ass... Literally. So, I have pretty much settled on the Teknic Chicane pants. I own the Teknic Violator jacket so this way they would zip in quite easily. I realize you can get different pants and just fit the zipper, but I've settled on the Teknic. My question is how are they supposed to fit? You just wear underwear underneath, correct? I am the definition of skrony; 5' 11" and 125 pounds. My legs are like twigs. I tried on a size 30 (US)/ 46 (EU) Alpinestar pant just for fit, because I have never put these type of pants on before. Anyways, the waist was fine but in the thighs and lower legs it seemed a bit lose... I guess just some clarification on how they are supposed to fit, would be appreciated. Any tips or advice? I'm new to the leather sport pants so... Thanks! Mitch |

You don't want them too loose so they should fit quite snuggly. Most are lined so you only need something underneath if it gets a tad chilly. Handy if you can fit longjohns/thermals underneath though. If they are too loose it is likely that the armour won't fit too well and may move about thus in the wrong place to work properly if you have a tumble. May also be uncomfortable if too loose.
Once fitted right you won't want to go back to textiles in a hurry. Leather is much better to ride in! (IMHO) ![]() |

If you can, try them out by actually sitting on your bike - afterall, it's better than trying to imitate your position by looking like you are trying to take a dump in the shop!
![]() If the thighs are a bit on the loose side don't be too concerned as long as any armour in the knees/hips doesn't really move around - so put your boots back on to keep the ankle/shin secure. Basically the leather is there for abrasion resistance, so it's OK if it's not really close fitting, but the armour is there for impact resistance, so that's got to stay in the right place. |
