Default Paddling at Skeggy

Well, it was sunny, I'd just taxed the bike and I could hear the sea calling...

... though maybe the last was just old age and tinnitus.

Anyhoo, collected a couple of mates (whose idea the trip was in the first place ), one of whom is the owner of my old SV, and the other has a bright, shiney new ST.

Soon cure that by riding past a few fields with budding Rapeseed and lots of pollen hungry bugs.

For a Bank Holiday and a Saturday is was surprisingly clear on the roads. Yeah there were a few of the usual suspects, doddery old farts in brand new GTi's and the odd caravan... but virtually no lorries. Kinda made overtaking and filtering a bit easier so that there were more than enough clear stretches to really get to enjoy a few nice sweeping bends along the way.
(Please don't ask me the route, I'm crap with road numbers/names - just look on a map for a nice sweeping route between Northampton and Skeg... and no, I wasn't leading, so we got there fairly directly. )

To be truthful we actualy bimbled up just past Skeg to a little spot called 'Something St Chapel' or 'Chalsomething point' - it's just up the coast a couple of miles... look on a map OK.

Anyway - we managed to park up on something that was vaguely solid on second inspection and then crested the scrub-rise to see the sea.

Skeg is over that hillock somewhere.

Whilst in the other direction - nothing.

Oh, except a few dogs who appeared to be taking a couple of people for a walk.

I discovered something the second I touched boot to sand... something that i think can only be evoked by the scrubbyness that is a British Beach...

... you suddenly can't help acting like you're about 7 years old and go all giggly at the waves...

... or maybe is was just watching my crippo-sticks sink in the sand.

Certainly made walking real hard work... but worth it to be a kid for a bit.

Yup, that's the place.
Had a really nice lunch in the pub there before settling in for a full-bellied snooze on the beach.
