Default rad guards and bar ends

Is it worth fitting rad guards?
I already have one over the oil rad but there is nothing on the water rad.
The bottom one is a bit tatty so I guess i could buy 2 matching ones but they aren't cheap. Anyone actually had a rad damaged?
Also how do other folk stop the bar ends from vibrating out? Loctite?
I have finally lost the throttle side one for good now......

Cheers.

I run a length of stainless rain gutter screen across the front of mine due to a stone which dented some of the fins. Also helps keep the bugs out. About $6 US for a 10 foot roll, when it starts looking dingy just cut off another piece, secure it with the rad side cover screws.

hello over there
Did some camping and fishing at boysen reservoir on the way back to denver in 2006
Wind river canyon might be fun )
Wasn't on a bike though...
Thats a good idea actually; I think I may have a roll of stainless mesh somewhere.
We ended up with a quarter inch thick layer of bugs after driving near a river so I can see what you mean by 'dingy'

I knew i should have used loctite.
Was a bit nervous becaes the bung is only plastic and wondered what would happen if I ever needed to take one out.

Just loctite the thread on the bolt, with the loctite in place it will hold the nut in place and not allow the bung to slide out.

Good to hear you had a chance to fish Boysen, sometimes some very good walleye fishing there. We go out there quite a bit in the summer with jet skis.
Wind River Canyon is a good ride as well, just a series of high speed sweepers with some fantastic scenery. Bugs are usually only really bad early morning and evenings.
There are some very good secondary roads around here as well.
