Hi MarkSv and welcome,
Are you saying you actually started it THEN put it in gear or did you just turn ign on and put in gear prior to trying to start her up? When you go back to her and put the keys in the ignition and turn do all the lights come up except neutral? If so try changing the gears just to see if its 'stuck' not quite in neutral? Did the neutral light work before? Is the killswitch on (nothing to do with the neutral indi but you never know). Try sitting on yer bike and lifting the sidestand up and try starting the bike as it wont start in gear if your stand is down( just be sure the clutch is in before you try!!). I'm sure someone much more learned than myself will be along soon!! Last edited by 5v5 rider; 11-04-07 at 06:32 PM. Reason: didnt ask it before! |

Hiya,
Sounds to me like it's not in neutral. Not the correct neutral anyway. Try rocking the bike to and fro and go up then down through the gearbox then put it in neutral. Hope it's as easy as that ![]() |

I'm mechanically ignorant but I thought you could only push it forwards and backwards when it's in neutral or if you have the clutch in while it's in gear. |

Let the clutch out and rev it hard. If the bike goes flying off, it's not in neutral! ![]() |

This is probably a silly question but have you taken the chain off ? 'cos if you have it will roll without needing to be in neutral ! Apologies if this is insultingly obvious !

Sit on the bike, sidestand up, pull the clutch in - the bike should start under these conditions even if the neutral light system is iffy ...
If it starts (and when you let the clutch out it doesn't go anywhere ![]() ![]() |
